Dental Implants: Restoring Health and Beauty
What is dental implantation?
Dental implantation is a unique opportunity to effectively restore dental health. This procedure allows patients to have strong and beautiful teeth, resembling natural ones, enhancing confidence and achieving an attractive smile. Additionally, it helps reduce digestive problems caused by missing teeth, as patients may struggle to chew food adequately.
Components of dental implants: Screw, Abutment, Crown
Dental implantation includes three main components: the screw, which is implanted in the missing tooth’s location, the abutment that attaches to the screw, and the crown, the artificial tooth replacing the missing one. The screws are typically made of titanium and are implanted into the bone after drilling into the jaw.
Dental implantation process:
Tooth Implantation:
The screw is implanted in the missing tooth’s location to serve as a strong base for securing the new tooth.
The abutment is placed on the screw and covered with the crown, replacing the missing tooth.
Abutment:
After the area heals, another incision is made to secure the abutment in the middle of the screw.
The site is left to heal for a few days, and the abutment protrudes slightly above the gum.
Crown Placement:
The crown is custom-made to match the shapes of surrounding teeth and is attached to the abutment, completing the dental implantation procedure.
Full Treatment Period:
Patients may need three to six months for complete integration between the screw and bone. Sufficient time should be given for healing in each stage of the process. If bone grafting is required, this step may take longer.
